NETIZEN CRITICISM OF GOVERNMENT POLICY THROUGH MEMES IN TRENDING TOPIC TWEET #BJORKA

Abstract


Memes are a tool used to convey ideas. This study aims to reveal memes created by netizens on the trending topic of tweet #Bjorka in criticizing the government. The research method uses descriptive qualitative methods with Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis instrument based on 3 dimensions, namely text dimensions, social cognition dimensions, and social context dimensions. Data was collected through purposive sampling using netizens’ tweet data sources. The data found in this study are 5 meme images. The study results conclude that the text dimension has 4 sub-themes: unresolved cases, reactions to data leaks, safeguarding cyber data, and arresting hackers. With substance (1) it is felt that the government is making a transition between issues with unresolved cases; (2) The new government takes action if their data is leaked (injustice); (3) The government is establishing a cyber security system in Indonesia is not competent in against hackers; and (4) Government officials chose incorrectly in the process of arresting Bjorka/hacker.
